This is a particularly rare, early 20th century, electrical recording rain gauge by Negretti & Zambra of London with serial No. 224. This records rainfall from a tilting bucket rain gauge sited outdoors remotely from this instrument, it records rainfall in 100th of an inch steps and automatically returns it to the bottom of the chart when 1 inch of rainfall has been recorded. This mechanism is housed in a polished oak case wiht a beveled glass lid and chart drawer to the base. The external gauge is available by seperate negotiation. A similar instrument without the chart drawer, serial No. 225, is also available. A limited number of recording charts are available.
