This is a beautiful marine barograph by Kelvin Hughes, well known suppliers of specialist instruments to the shipping industry. The polished hardwood case & lacquered movement are virtually in ‘as new’ condition. The pen arm has a damper movement attached allowing the trace of the recording pen to be stabilized when the ship rolls at sea or the engines create a vibration. There is a facility under the base to enable the barograph to be screw-fixed to a shelf (see pic) handy when you're sailing in the Roaring Forties! The drum contains a quality battery powered quartz movement & uses conventional weekly charts. As with most barographs this would make a lovely presentation instrument as well as an important piece of maritime instrumentation.
