Oak Cased Barograph, with Dial by Reynolds & Branson, Leeds

This is a lovely early 20th century display barograph with a subsidiary silvered barometer dial describing the traditional weather predictions. The polished golden oak case has a bevelled glass lift-off lid and there is a twin compartment drawer to the base. An ivorine plaque to the left of the lacquered brass movement states 'Reynolds & Branson, Leeds' the retailers who probably bought it from Short & Mason of London, whose registered design number 428606 (1904) appears on the barometer dial. See extract from 'Weather' book,1908, by Taylor Instruments of New York, who were representatives for Short & Mason.
