Rare Very Early Barograph,Richard Freres

This is one of the first batch of standard barographs produced by Richard Freres of Paris. With the serial number 1252 it would have been manufactured around 1890 - the third year of production. The movement  became the basic format for barographs for well over 120 years and is still produced today. Many leading UK manufacturers, including Negretti & Zambra, bought the movement and incorporated into their own display cases.

See extract from Casella's trade catalogue describing Richard Freres instruments dated 1894.

The working movement in this particular barograph is in very good condition for its great age. The mahogany hardwood case is in servicable condition although would benefit from some minor refurbishment and this is reflected in the price.

A quantity of weekly recording charts and fresh bottle of ink included.

280mm wide x 133mm deep x 150mm high.
