Short and Mason
This is an extremely rare presentation rain recorder with a plaque dated October 22nd 1913. The very fact that it has survived over 100 years is exceptionally rare to be seen outside of museums. The instrument records the rainfall on a chart and also indicates on the associated dial up to 10” of rain. When that level has been achieved the pen on the chart returns to zero. See extract from Weather book by Taylor Instruments of USA who were associated with Short & Mason dated 1908 showing a similar design. Charts are available.
Size overall: 440mm high x 300mm wide x 195mm deep. 205mm diameter rain collection funnel.
