This is a mahogany hardwood cased barograph in typical form, often used in commercial locations such docks, mine managers, non-military airfields, etc. The brass mechanism is in good condition and produces a positive trace and is sensitive to minor pressure changes. There's no maker's name although I've seen that impressive hinged carry handle on other barographs and also thermographs by Negretti & Zambra Ltd. There is a curious plaque on the front which has a light floral pattern with 2 doves close together in the centre - could it have been bought as a shared gift for a lucky partner? There are some quite deep scratches on the back of the case which I'm sure could be sanded out, or perhaps carefully filled and then repolished. This is is reflected in the lower price, not a problem of course if the instrument is to sited against a wall or on a shelf. A nice project opportunity!
A selection of charts will be included together with a fresh bottle of recording ink and a re-printed pamphlet describing operating instructions and interpretation of various chart recordings.
