A nice barograph in a golden oak case by renowned makers, Short and Mason of London. Although quite a relatively early serial number, F3854, this instrument has the concertina type diaphragm stack and the gate suspension which allows the pen arm to fall gently on the recording chart. On this basis I would date this example to be from the late 1940s, say 1948/49. The barograph movement and brass baseplate are finished in a gilded lacquer complementing the hardwood case.
A selection of weekly charts (in inches or millibars) are included together with a fresh bottle of recording ink (red or blue) and a re-printed pamphlet with operating instructions and how to interpret the various chart recordings.
370mm wide x 223mm deep x 183mm high.
