British Rainfall 1921 Record Year

Here's a fascinating and highly collectable book - British Rainfall 1921. This is the original publication by the British Meteorological Office (Air Ministry). Considering the current drought conditions over many areas of the UK, this highly significant book covers in great details the lack of rainfall over the southern half of the UK some one hundred and five years ago. In particular, Margate in Kent recorded a mere 9.29 inches (238mm), which I believe is still a national record. In my local area, the Clarence Park station in Weston-super-Mare, recorded 19.96inches, double that of Margate but still half of the average rainfall. As a mattter of further interest I've shown an advertisment on the inside page for a hyetograph by Negretti & Zambra . The Weston-super-Mare station in Clarence Park had one of these and I was fortunate to buy it from the Borough Council when the site closed in 1972. I still have it and would be prepared to sell it on to a serious collector!
