Contemporary Barometer in Louis XV1 Style

This is a contemporary version of a traditional French barometer in typical Louis XV1 style. It has a nicely carved giltwood effect frame with a convex glass and flowers with foliage decorating the barometer face. There are two useful scales featuring millimetres and millibars with the weather predictions in French. The manufacturer appears to be the well renowned and old established maker Louis Maxant, signed on the dial in the capitals L.M. and accompanied by ' Les Ateliers a Bordeaux'. There is a similar reference on the back together with a retailers stamp of Pierre Fournier, 6, rue Notre Dame, Annecy.

This is such an attractive instrument it would be perfect for a collector to display in any domestic or office location.

Quite large, at 270mm overall diameter.
