This is a traditional style brass cased barometer with the usual weather predictions ranging from 28” to 31” around the top of the crisp and clear to read porcelain dial. There is a floral display around the centre of the dial as well as on the brass hanging ring. The lower half advertises the ‘Cottage Garden Society’ together with a curved thermometer below. The thermometer scale is in Fahrenheit ranging from10’F to 120”F therefore making it ideal for display in an orangery of similar where there could be a considerable temperature range.
This is a lovely working instrument and would obviously make a nice gift and will grace any location (not outside of course!). There are a few nicks (not cracks) around the edge of the deep bevelled glass and there are signs of a small repair to the brass rim however, this does not impair the overall appearance of the barometer.
