Curious Mahogany Barograph

An fascinating limited edition barograph by Russell, number 44 of 1000 and dated 1982 and in the style of their Blakeney barograph. The clock lid displays the Greek gods Helios, God of the Sun:; Boreas, God of the north wind, winter and cold; Demeter, God of agriculture, harvest, fertility and seasons and Oceanus, god of the great river that the Greeks thought surrounded their land and provided fresh water. The brass base is engraved with the illustrations of mountain heights up to Mt Everest from sea level with corresponding levels of mercury.. The ornate mahogany case has a deep two-compartment drawer to the base

 Although the engraved plate refers to London, Russell were actuall based in Norwich, Norfolk.....

A quantity of unusual decorative weekly charts together with a fresh bottle of recording ink are included and also a reprinted period pamphlet by Negretti & Zambra Ltd describing operating instructions and how to interpret typical chart recordings.
