This is an early 1920s display barograph in rich polished oak case with bevelled glass all round. There is a two-compartment chart drawer to base with a fixed panel below - always a sign of quality. Some signs of fading over its 100 years but this only adds to its provenance and does not affect the overall appearance. The small brass weight suspended from the crossbar link was designed to take up any slack in the links between the diaphragm stack and the pen arm. Astute Edwardian engineers described this new addition as 'An Improved Barograph' and was often proudly displayed on the nameplate - see my James Brown barograph.There is the original glass ink bottle with brass stopper. The mechanism and weekly clock movement are all in good working order.
A selection of weekly charts will be included together with a fresh bottle of recording ink (red or blue) and a re-printed pamphlet describing operating instructions and interpretation of various chart recordings.
