Gothic Style Oak Barograph by Short & Mason, London

This is a very early 20th Century Barograph signed by well known makers, Short & Mason, London. The polished oak case in Victorian gothic style with fluted columns, overhanging top frame (allowing easier to lift off) and generally more imposing than the standard instrument case. Fitted with bevelled glass all round and a two-compartment chart drawer with a brass drop pull handle.

The lacquered brass movement is typical of the period, having the tension arm above the set of diaphragms and the clock movement is stamped with the 1902 patent. All in good working condition.

The barograph comes with a most interesting provenance with a presentation letter and a Certificate of Authenticity from Harrods indicating the date of manufacture circa 1905.

A selection of weekly charts and a fresh bottle of recording included plus a reprinted pamphlet describing operating instructions and interpreting chart recordings.
