This is a very large and truly imposing barograph by Negretti and Zambra, circa 1920. The instrument has been very well looked after and maintained over its 100 year life and likely to have been displayed in a secure, prominent locatiion, no doubt in a large room, possibly Town Hall, Library or maybe a large country house. The golden oak case has a hinged, five-glass lid and a single chart drawer to the base. The lacquered mechanism and weekly clock are all in excellent working condition. A large mercury filled thermometer, signed by Negretti and Zambra, London, sits neatly between the clock and the mechanism.
A quantity of weekly charts together with a fresh bottle of recording ink are included and also a reprinted period pamphlet by Negretti & Zambra Ltd describing operating instructions and how to interpret typical chart recordings.
