This is a very heavy solid brass nameplate taken from one of the massive sugar refining machines manufactured by Mirrlees Watson of Glasgow. The plaque has been mounted on a solid hardwood base and fitted with a later quartz clock movement and an aneroid barometer complete with a curved thermometer to the base. There are four sturdy fixing positions at the back so it can be safely secured in position - it weighs in at a hefty 6.0Kg!
