Unusual Thermometer

This is particularly interesting oak wall thermometer, unsigned but with an early patent number - 1383 with the words 'Patent Metallic Thermometer' in a semicircle at the top. I guess it would have been considered quite innovative at the time as all thermometers previously used mercury or spirit in a sealed glass tube to record temperature. The hardwood carving is very distinctive and has been used for barometers as well. The crisp white dial would appear to be porcelain and there are just four references; Freezing, Temperate, Summer Heat and Blood Heat. 125mm diameter of the thick bevelled glass, 200mm diameter overall, 65mm deep.
