A quiet, cool and benign start to the new year was rudely interupted by two vicious depressions which swept across the UK from 23rd January. You can see from the extract of my monthly barograph recording that storm Eowyn was the first to arrive and briskly followed a few days later by storm Herminia where the pressure in the West Country dropped to 28.7" ( 973mb).
At the height of the storm the instrument recorded a short but particularly violent atmospheric disturbance.......I have several monthly recording barographs on my website.
